Construction in old town

Let's suppose you were the mayor of Bern and needed some fill material for a little landscaping project in the backyard of your nice home and office located on a hill in the old part of town and surrounded by other grand old buildings, including the great Munster church.  It would be quite a project, as you can see in the pictures below!


First, you would need to get one of these mobile cranes and set it up in middle of a street in the neighborhood below your house that is accessible by dump trucks (but inconveniently blocking traffic).



Then you would pull up a truck with the fill material in the back and scoop some up in the bucket on the end of your crane.

And then lift the bucket high up and over the other buildings



 

And then lower the bucket down to your waiting crew in the backyard 

And then repeat this again and again and again. You would think there would be an easier way, but this is how it is done in old town Bern.
