On the Thursday evening when we were in Munich (after visiting Dachau), we took the train to Augsburg (about 30 minutes away) to visit the Christmas Market, which had opened earlier that week. The Christmas Markets in Germany are a big deal, but most of them did not open this year until November 25th, the day we returned home. Although the Market (much like a fair with vendors in booths selling Christmas decorations, crafts and other random items, and lots of food!) is also open during the day, it was fun to go at night. We did some shopping for Christmas decorations -- and we bought some chocolate treats to eat. And Mike bought a bratwurst -- about a foot long, served on a small, almost square roll!
After visiting the Christmas Market, it was time to find our way back to the train station. Which we didn't think would be hard. But we promptly set off in the wrong direction. However, by this time in our trip, we had become used to asking for directions. (And everyone was really helpful in giving directions.) So eventually, we made it back to the train station.
